Christian-Comedian Cory Edwards

Stand-Up, Emcee, Host, Illustration, Sketch Comedy, Message

For over ten years Cory Edwards has been entertaining audiences across the country with a myriad of comedic talents. As a stand-up comic, host and illustrator, Cory has entertained in 12 states for live audiences of up to three thousand laughing businessmen, church members, students and comedy club patrons, as well as on television, radio and film.

Stand-Up Comedy: If you like Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Brian Regan and some old-school Steve Martin, you'll really enjoy Cory's take on everyday life, extrapolated to bizarre extremes! While Cory is similar to these famous comics, he adds his own unique brand of physical comedy, multiple voices and high-energy that keeps him jumping, stumbling and falling all over the stage. His tried-and-true material has been workshopped in front of hundreds of audiences, yet he is still able to improvise with it on stage. The bottom line for Cory is FUN, with a little sarcasm and a lot of disarming self-deprecation that makes him the butt of his own jokes.

Speaker: Aside from his experience in front of the camera, Cory is also a feature film director and life-long cartoonist. He's been known to wow student audiences with impromptu sketches during his talks on filmmaking.

Cory has worked on countless commercials and music videos, and currently writes and directs for mainstream Hollywood films. His first film was the animated hit "Hoodwinked," a Red Riding Hood caper that he wrote, directed, storyboarded and performed in.

Cory Edwards resides in Los Angeles, writing and directing original live action and animated projects. Among his current projects are “Escape From Planet Earth” and “Hoodwinked 2.”

"I'm a pastor's kid. But not the wild, rebellious kind.  The "so goody-goody it makes you sick" kind. I wish I could tell you a colorful testimony that takes me through a rocky history of drugs, alcohol, sex or gangs. But to be honest, I wasn't ever cool enough to get offered any of those things. I never ran far from God, and was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home. But God has taken me on my own rocky road, and that path has made me stronger as His follower.

"It was at seventh grade Youth Camp when I walked the proverbial walk to the altar and made my parents' faith my own. At that age, I knew what it meant. But I'm still being taught. Ever since that day, I have been shown his unfailing love, patience and grace in the midst of my shortcomings. When I met my wife, her charismatic background clashed with my conservative roots and I was opened up to contemporary styles of worship. Now we go to a church that merges both. Who knew?

"If I had to pick one phrase to sum up my life with Christ, it would be "walk of faith." There have been many moments where I have left all safe options behind and stepped out into the unknown future. And God has been there. I am a fervent believer in living your dreams, and my wife and I painfully put our finances and careers on the line to do just that. God's provisions have been nothing short of miraculous. Now I am directing films, traveling the country as a comedian and making an impact as an entertainer and storyteller in the mainstream entertainment industry.

"As a venue for Christ's message, I can think of no greater platform. Every day I get to wake up and participate in God's plan. I feel blessed. He is opening doors to reach a pop culture where the Christian perspective is far from politically correct. And to meet that challenge, I take pride in being excellent in front of such a tough crowd. That's why I like to tell people I am a comedian who is a Christian, not a Christian Comedian... there's a difference. My act reaches all people. And if in some way that breaks down barriers and draws them to a community of believers, then I've done my job. Christ comes in and does the rest."

"Cory was EXCELLENT, HILARIOUS!!! Would recommend him to anyone!"

- James, Family Worship Center

"I have not laughed like that in a long time! I was up in the balcony and the theater staff came in to listen. This one woman was laughing so hard during his routine that she had to grab hold of the chair in front of her so she wouldn't fall into the aisle. As I said, epically funny!"

- Amanda, Bel Aire Presbyterian Church

"Cory's observations on life are poignant, he sees things through a "funny filter" we all can understand. Our Comedy Night was a huge success ... young and old alike laughed until they hurt! A HUGE HOME RUN!"

- David, Director of Communications, Evangelical Free Church

"Cory's performance was a breath of fresh air. Relevant, clever and very connected to our audience. Our event was a young adult weekend of listening to the Lord's calling. The performance met our expectations that night of staying focused to the theme, as well as allowing us to relax and enjoy a true performer for the Lord."
- Kevin, Programming & Creative Ministries Specialist, Salvation Army

"Cory Edwards was extremely comical and conscientious in customizing his routine to help me launch my new message series in our worship service. He met the challenge with excellence."
- Pastor Randy, Church in the Valley

"I don't think anyone was really sure what to expect when we said we were having a Clean Comedian. Cory wasn't corny or hokey, but really funny. I literally laughed the whole time. Most of the time I had tears rolling down my cheeks. The exciting thing to me is that the non-believers who were there had a blast. It was a great bridge event for us. I appreciate Cory's heart as well as his humor. This event was such a success for us that it has caused us to plan more of these types of events on a regular basis. Cory, thanks for your ministry and your impact!"

- Scott, Outreach Pastor, Crosspoint Community Church
