Stand-up, Sketch Comedy, Message



Way back in 1981 a beautiful baby boy was born, and two floors over, in the same hospital, Jeremy was born. Jeremy LaCorte was born in Florida, which is contrary to most people, who usually go to Florida to die.

He has lived there for all 23 years of his life with his family and wiener dog Dude. His first standup routine came in sixth grade where he performed at the talent show. His career in standup started several years later in 2003 at the age of 21. About eight months into the game, Jeremy began getting noticed and even started getting paid. It is his goofy clean style that has caught the eye of several club owners who never regret giving Jeremy a shot, and are always happy to welcome him back.

Now Jeremy is a nationally touring comedian and soon to be college grad who looks to take his odd observations to new audiences across America. His jokes tackle every situation from his grandmother who steals, to owning a penguin because he can’t run away. Jeremy uses every type of comedy he can get his hands on blending physical, observational,  and old school comedy one-liners with a new twist. But no matter what he does he is true to standup and comes armed only with the mic, the mic stand, and a stool. He emanates funny.

 

Jeremy started doing comedy from birth, but began professionally at the age of 21. When he started his comedy wasn’t what it was today. He quickly realized that being a comedian usually came with a lifestyle that didn’t suit him. He thought as long as he didn’t get involved he would be alright. As Jeremy got closer with God he began to see how much of a hypocritical Christian he had become. He was one person on stage and one person off. He started to clean up his act but had a tendency to give up and go with what “worked”. Then his friend told him something that changed his outlook on comedy completely. He said, “Just picture Jesus sitting out in the audience listening to your jokes. Do you think he would approve”. After that Jeremy began to trust God completely with his writing and act on stage. He knew that having faith would provide the right audience and comedy to use the gifts God gave him. He now looks forward to every show as a way to display his gifts for God and is proud to give thanks for his undeserved forgiveness. “Blessed is the man who preservers under trial; for he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12).
